Photo hunting of capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus)
At 3:00 am start from Bansko and travel about 1 hour.
Hiking (1-2 hours) to Bird coupling place, stalking and taking a picture of capercaillie.
The capercaillie is a polygamous species. Cock makes its wedding at specially selected places. Interest are males over this period they have a specific song, consisting of three phases. During the third phase for about 3-4 seconds capercaillie is completely deaf. His love song starts around 3-4 am and is easily discernable in forest conditions. The photo hunting during this period is the most easily accessible and very interesting and emotional.
